Palliative (pal-ee-uh-tive) care is a medical specialty that focuses on improving the quality of life for people who are living with a serious illness and their loved ones. We are here to support and guide you now and in the future. Thank you for asking this question. That’s actually a common misconception. Palliative care does not mean end-of-life care. In fact, palliative care can be provided at any age and at any stage of an illness. It is based on an individual’s needs, not their prognosis.

We recognize many people have supported loved ones throughout illness and may have wondered how to mindfully anticipate the uncertainty of the future. To this end, we are here to help guide you through the Advance Care Planning process, as well.

Receiving health care often involves choices that impact your life and wellbeing in different ways: where you choose to receive care, how your values and decisions factor into your quality of life, and considerations about the people you love. Advance Care Planning puts you in the driver’s seat by discussing and preparing for decisions about your medical care. It gives you and those you love a say in your care, now and in the future.

Having a completed advance directive can be helpful in ensuring your healthcare wishes are respected. However, we recognize traditional advance directives do not capture the full picture. That's why we created the Lunaria Narrative. It goes beyond the basics, allowing you to express your values and preferences in a more comprehensive way, ensuring your voice is heard in a wider range of healthcare situations. We're here for you beyond paperwork, too. As nurse practitioners, we offer compassionate support throughout your journey, holding space for both joys and sorrows, and working together to create a plan that honors your humanity and wishes.

We also offer virtual meetings that can take place on your smartphone, tablet, laptop, or computer. Alternatively, we may be able to meet you in your home or another location you prefer, for an additional fee. If you would like to meet in person, please let us know when you schedule your consultation and we will be in touch to discuss the details.

We do not take insurance. While some of the services we provide are covered by some insurances, we also provide services that may not be covered by your insurance company. These services are vital to ensuring you have the right conversations and tools to prepare for the future as well as to live the life you want, with a serious illness.
